Description

Argyle, at 11 Marine Parade, was built in 1833 and originally served as a bath house. It is a three-storey building with a ground-floor projection set back from the upper floors. The first and second floors are clad in slate, while the ground floor is roughcast and topped with a wooden balustrade. The first floor has two openings, and the second floor has two segmental-headed openings with modern two-light casements. French casements are found on the first floor. A wide, three-centred entrance is centrally located, featuring rusticated dressings and modern double doors. Either side of the entrance are three-centred headed windows with a radiating glazing pattern. Argyle forms a group with the buildings at numbers 4 to 6 (consecutive), 6A, 7, 8, 8A, 9, 12, and a nearby sundial.
