Description

Nos 10 and 12 High East Street are a pair of buildings dating from the mid-19th century. They are colourwashed brick construction with a pitched slate roof and brick stacks. The buildings are two storeys high with attics. The front elevation has three sash windows with glazing bars on the first floor and two attic dormers with sashes and glazing bars. There are three shopfronts: the shopfront at No 11 is modern, while Nos 10 and 12 retain 19th-century features. No 12 has an oblong bay window with pilasters and an entablature. No 10 features a modillion cornice and a pent roof supported by cut brackets.

The west elevation of No 12, facing Icen Way, is built of Ridgeway rubble with red brick dressings and has a mansard slate roof. It also has three ranges of sash windows with glazing bars and two planked doors with segment-headed fanlights.

Nos 10 and 12 are historically significant as a group alongside Nos 1, 2, 2A, and 3 Icen Way.
