Description

No. 42 High East Street is a three-storey building with a three-window red brick front, dating from the early 19th century. It features a moulded eaves cornice and sash windows, although the glazing bars are missing. The central doorway is round-headed with a recessed arch-ring and a decorative fanlight. Notably, this house is one of the few in the area that does not have a shopfront. It is part of a group that includes Nos. 35 to 43 (consecutive), Nos. 39A and 39B, the arch between Nos. 40 and 41, and the British Legion Headquarters.
