Description

No 14 on High East Street is a late 19th-century building made of red brick, featuring terracotta moulded window surrounds. It is specifically listed for its butcher's shop, which boasts a striking shopfront made of brilliantly coloured glazed terracotta that extends below the dado level around the front of No 15. The shop has a projecting canopy with the name "Hodder" displayed in bold Egyptian gold lettering on the fascia, along with a modillion cornice. Inside, the shop is completely lined with blue and white tiles and includes original steel meat hanging rails. Nos 14 to 20 form a group.
