Description

43 and 43A East Street is a building dating from the mid-18th century and later. It features a four-window red brick front and is two stories high with an attic. The roof is slightly mansard and includes two dormers. The upper floors have sash windows, with the ground floor originally having segmental heads and original sashes that included wide glazing bars. However, the ground floor now has a modern plate glass shop front and doorway that extends across the entire width. To the right, No 43A is an adjoining block that also has a modern plate-glass shop front on the ground floor, with a late Georgian splayed bay above it. Nos 21 to 43 (odd), along with No 43A and the outbuildings, form a group.
