Description
43 and 43A Churchside is a pair of houses, which may have originally been one dwelling, currently used as offices. They were built in the early 19th century and feature Flemish-bond brickwork with a stone-flagged roof. The buildings are two storeys high and have a five-window range, with a single window hipped roof pavilion wing to the right, which is No.43A.
The main block has a central doorway framed by an enriched Tuscan doorcase. On either side of the doorway are 2-pane sash windows, with a tripartite sash window located in the upper right and blind windows to the left on both floors. There is a continuous sill band at the first floor and flat-arched brick heads above the windows. No.43A projects as a wing to the right and features a wide tripartite window on the first floor, along with a tripartite window on the ground floor set in a segmentally-arched recess with a plain string course. A plain doorway has been inserted to the left of this wing. The eaves are topped with a parapet above a moulded stone cornice.
