Description
61 and 61A East Street is an 18th-century building that stands three storeys tall, matching the height of the adjacent properties at Nos 58 to 60. The facade features three windows and is topped with a tiled gabled roof, which has a small cornice with modillions just below the eaves. The building is constructed of red brick, with sash windows set in reveals under flat arches, although the glazing bars are missing on the first floor.
No 61 includes a small 19th-century plate glass shop front that has a three-sided square bay supported on brackets, along with a fascia on wooden brackets. The door has two fielded panels, with the upper part cut away and glazed. No 61A has a 20th-century plate glass shop front with a large modern fascia.
Together, Nos 57 to 61 and 61A form a cohesive group.
