Description

This is a tall, substantial Victorian building of considerable character, dating to around 1860. It is four storeys high and has two windows facing East Street. The building is constructed of red brick with stone dressings. Prominent brick pilasters are flanked by bands of stone, and there is an enriched stone frieze. A stone circular classical medallion depicting a profile, possibly of Mercury, adorns the front. A parapet tops the structure. Two-bay windows are set into the first floor. A modern shop front replaces the original at street level.
