Description
No. 38, known as the West Sussex County Club, is an 18th-century building located on the north side of East Street. It stands three storeys tall and features three windows. The structure is constructed of red brick and has a cornice adorned with modillions, topped by a parapet. Originally, there were iron balconies on the first floor. The building has sash windows set in shallow reveals with flat arches, and the ground floor has missing glazing bars. The elegant doorway is framed by Doric columns and includes a moulded frieze with paterae, along with a curved pediment that has an inset patera. The entrance features a six-panelled door with four fielded panels and panelled reveals.
