Description
No 2 Broad Street is a building dating from the late 18th century to the early to mid 19th century. It is two storeys high and features two windows. The building has a gabled roof with an attic storey addition and a paired sash dormer. The front is finished in stucco. On the first floor, there are two sash windows, each five panes wide. On the ground floor to the left, there is a six-panelled door with a fanlight, which is coupled with a doorway leading to the Rock Point Hotel. To the right, there is a modern shop window and a glazed door. The building is depicted in an early to mid 19th century print of The Square.
From the land, Nos 1 and 2 form a group with the Pilot Hotel on Bridge Street and help to frame the view down Broad Street to the southeast. From the sea, the rear faces of Nos 1 and 2 group with the sea walls at Gunn Cliff, the Museum, and the Guildhall on Bridge Street.
