Description
Station Lodge is a detached lodge built in 1859. It features dressed stone walls with ashlar Ham-stone quoins and dressings. The upper storey is jettied and has tile-hanging, while the roof is covered with clay tiles arranged in a fish-scale pattern. The south and west gables are adorned with ornamental barge-boards and trelliswork supported by wooden posts. A stone stack with a cornice is located at the junction of the two ranges. The building has one storey in the west range and one and a half storeys overall. The windows display irregular fenestration, with ovolo-moulded stone mullions and lozenge-leaded lights, along with iron casements. There is a square bay under the south gable and a canted bay under the west gable. The south-facing porch features stone gable-coping and moulded kneelers, with moulded jambs and a depressed-arch head. Above the doorway, a datestone displays a shield with a coronet and the letter "I" for Ilchester. The entrance has a panelled door from the 20th century.
