Description
The Parade, located on Cheap Street, is a building from the 1840s that was divided into two parts by 1852. It has a three-storey façade featuring three windows, constructed from ashlar stone. The front is decorated with quoin pilasters that have incised line ornamentation. A moulded string course wraps around the pilasters at the second floor level, and there is an entablature and cornice at the eaves. The sash windows, which still have their glazing bars intact, include a central Venetian window on the first floor. This window is set within a sunk recess that has fluting in the spandrels. The building also features large modern plate glass shop fronts and previously had an iron balcony across the first floor. The Parade is part of a group that includes Nos 54 and 56, a gate, lamp, and overthrow between Nos 54 and 56, The Methodist Church, and Nos 58 to 82 (even).
