Description

These are two buildings, 68 and 70 Cheap Street, dating to the 17th century. They are situated adjacent to number 66. The front of the buildings is constructed of stone. The first floor features a four-light stone mullioned window. A later half-dormer sits above. The roof is covered in plain tiles.

At ground level, number 68 has a modern plate-glass and wood shop front. To its left is a 17th-century stone arch with a four-canted head and an 18th-century hood mould, containing a four-panelled door. Number 70 is attached to the south side and forms part of the same building. It has three storeys and a gabled front, with the upper storeys plastered. There is a coved overhang at the second-floor level. Later additions include a wood casement window to the attic, a splayed bay window to the first floor, and a blocked window with leaded glazing in the left-hand return. A blocked four-centred doorway is present on the south side, leading towards a central passageway at the rear. A mullioned window is situated at the rear of the first floor.
