Description
Moretons, located at No 31 on East Street, is a building that dates from before the 18th century and was altered in the early 19th century. It features a stucco exterior and a pitched slate roof with overhanging eaves supported by paired brackets. The building has red brick stacks with cornicing and stands two storeys tall.
The façade includes one range of sash windows in moulded frames, one range of Yorkshire casements in moulded frames, two casements on the first floor, and one cased sash on the ground floor. The entrance door has six moulded panels set within panelled reveals, and the doorcase is decorated with a blind trellis pattern and fluted pilasters, topped by a segmental hood on cut brackets.
Moretons is part of a group with Nos 13 to 33 (odd), 37, and 39, of which Nos 23 and 25 are of local interest only.
