Description

Saddle Street Farmhouse is a building dating from possibly earlier than the 18th century, with a datestone reading 1762 above the front door. It is constructed of whitewashed rubble walls with stone quoins, and has a thatched roof with half-hipped gable ends and a catslide roof over an outshut. A brick stack is located just to the right of centre. The original plan features a lobby-entrance with two back-to-back fireplaces. The farmhouse is two storeys high with a five-window front. Windows are 20th-century wooden casements with cills. Some earlier wooden lintels remain. A porch has been added, featuring wooden weatherboarding and a thatched roof. Inside, there are two open fireplaces, and a single-flight staircase that runs parallel to one of the fireplace jambs.
