Description
Three estate cottages, originally four, were built in 1862. They are situated in Higher Kingston Russell and are grouped together in a U-shaped block, with a wide central bay projecting to the south. The cottages are constructed of coursed rubble-stone walls with a hipped slate roof. Brick stacks are located at the eaves of the rear wings, on the central ridge to the left and right of centre, and on the front ridge in the centre. The cottages are two storeys high. The south elevation features sash windows arranged in a one-two-one pattern, with dressed stone voussoirs above each window and stone sills. The windows have sashes. There are porches situated in the angles of the south elevation, and another in the rear angle of the east elevation. Each porch has a dressed stone round arch with imposts and keys, a dressed stone cornice and a parapet. The original plank doors are round-headed; two rear doors have been replaced with plank doors containing four panes of glass.
