Description
No 8 on Broad Street is a 17th century or earlier timber-framed building located at the south-east end of the street. The gable end features exposed timber framing. The ground floor has been modified to accommodate a modern shop, which includes a strapwork panel in its shop front. To the right, there is another modern shop front with a felt roof, and further right, a passageway leads down to Ross House. Ross House has a south-west facing front that is two storeys high with three window bays, a slate roof, and slate cladding on the walls. There are splayed bays at both ends that extend through both floors. This building is part of a group that includes the Bell Cliff Retaining Wall and Railings, as well as Nos 4 to 10 (consecutive) and 10A Broad Street.
