Description

The Alcove Café is an early 19th century building with later additions, originally appearing as a two-story, three-window-bay cottage in old photographs. The current facade features a sash window on the first floor of the first bay. The second bay has a splayed bay window on the first floor above a plain sash window on the ground floor. A doorway is topped by a coved and peaked canopy, sheltering a half-glazed door. The third bay has a square bay window extending over both floors. A third floor has been added with modern window openings. To the right, two additional bays feature sash windows without glazing bars on the first floor, and a three-light modern casement window on the second floor. A later addition on the left-hand end has a sash window on the first floor, a door and a sash window on the ground floor, and a splayed bay window on the second floor.
