Description
The Cottage at the Isolation Hospital is a former nurses' cottage that has been converted into a holiday cottage. Built in the early 1900s using a pre-fabricated system by Humphreys' of Knightsbridge, it features a timber frame on a brick base, clad in corrugated iron, with a pitched corrugated iron roof. This single-storey building originally had a living room and kitchen, which are now combined as the sitting room, while the original sitting room has been transformed into a bedroom. These rooms lead off a passage from a slightly later porch, which is designed in the same style. The current kitchen was once a bedroom, and the fireplaces from the original design have been preserved. The windows have been replicated to maintain the building's character. The cottage is included for its group value.
