Description

CHURCH KNOWLE EAST CREECH SY 98 SW 8/53 East Creech Farm House GV 12.11.59 II Detached farmhouse. C17 origin, enlarged to east in C18. Original section has plastered stone walls, slate roof and brick end stacks. Front wall has been raised. 2 storeys. Ledged door with glass panel. Ground floor has 2 casement windows with glazing bars in earlier openings with remains of stone mullions. First floor has 2 casement windows with glazing bars. West gable wall has a blocked 2-light Gothic window - possibly re-set, and a single- light window with lead lights. Some exposed ceiling beams. Taller C18 wing on east has plastered brick walls; tiled roof with stone eaves courses; brick end stack. 2 storeys. Projecting 2-storeyed wing at front with hipped tiled roof. Raised panel door under flat hood. Ground floor has 3 double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. First floor has 3 similar windows and, in projecting wing, one casement window with glazing bars. West of the wing a triangular-headed window with glazing bars. In east gable wall, 6 circular recesses with stone surrounds - possibly blocked windows. RCHM Monument 12 (Dorset Vol II).
