Description

Sycamore Farm is a cottage that dates back to the early 18th century, with later additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is likely timber-framed and is encased in late 19th-century colourwashed red brick, with some areas featuring colourwashed render. It has a steeply pitched thatched roof that is covered with green-painted corrugated iron, and there is a single ridge stack. The cottage is single storey with a garret and has a lobby entrance.

The front of the cottage has three bays, with a doorway located in a 20th-century brick porch that has small windows on the side walls. The doorway features a wooden lintel and a plank door. To the left of the doorway is a sliding sash window with a wooden lintel, while to the right is a casement window with a segmental head.

On the left side, there is a lean-to that includes a doorway with a panelled door and a wooden lintel. The end wall has a four-light 20th-century casement window, with a brick band above it and a smaller 20th-century casement window with a wooden lintel positioned above that. Inside, there are back-to-back fireplaces with chamfered bressummers, and a single chamfered beam can be found in the left-hand room. A staircase is located at the rear of the fireplaces, complete with a door and an upper hatch.
