Description
Three attached cottages, dating from the 18th century. The cottages originally comprised Montyike, Gingerbread Cottage, and 1 and 2 North Road, now known as Stoke Cottage. Montyike has stone walls, rendered and washed, and a thatched roof with stone gable coping to the Main Street. It features a brick stack at the gable end and two storeys, with two windows containing two-light wooden casements with glazing bars. A 20th-century front door is positioned on the west wall. Gingerbread Cottage has rubble stone walls, a thatched roof, and a central brick stack at the ridge. It is two storeys high and has one window with two-light wooden casements and glazing bars. The window has flat brick arches and a dormer with a thatched canopy. A 20th-century front door with glass panels is located on the right side. Stoke Cottage shares similar materials to Gingerbread Cottage, but its roof has a gable end facing north. Also two storeys, it has one window with two- and three-light wooden casements with glazing bars. These cottages are described in "RCHM, Dorset I", page 95.
