Description

A post office and attached house, dating from the later 18th century, is situated in Chiddington village. The building has a coursed stone plinth with roughcast walls above, and a slate roof featuring stone gable copings. Brick stacks are positioned on the left and right-hand gables. The two-storey structure has three windows, each a 3-light wooden casement with varying glazing bar designs. A plank and two-leaf front door is centrally located, set within a stone door surround featuring Tuscan pilasters and a flat entablature with a projecting cornice. Inside, a hall-corridor originally ran through the centre of the house. Doorcase stairs are present in both the right-hand and left-hand ground floor rooms, mirroring each other in position.
