Description

Pennys Hill Cottage is a detached cottage dating to around the late 17th century, with remodelling in the 19th century. It has rubble-stone walls that have been washed, and a thatched roof that is hipped and gabled. The cottage is one and a half storeys high, with two windows containing renewed 3-light wooden casements. There are eyebrow dormers. The front door is centrally located and is made of wood, studded, with a depressed-arch head. A 19th-century label is positioned over the door, and three further 19th-century labels are above the windows, each featuring carved head-stops, possibly taken from Old Chedington Church. Inside, the fireplace has chalk-block jambs and a mid-chamfered wood lintel above.
