Description

Keeper's Piece is an early 19th century detached cottage, originally the Keeper's Cottage. The building is constructed of random rubble-stone walls with brick quoins and window dressings. It has a thatched roof, hipped at both ends, and a brick stack at the centre with three flues. The cottage is two storeys high with two windows, each fitted with 3-light cast-iron casements in wooden frames. The iron glazing-bars are of a vertical and horizontal type with lozenge intersections, and include tension bars. The front door, positioned centrally, is a plank door with strap-hinges, dating from the 19th century, set within a wooden frame and brick jambs and head. Inside the left-hand room are flagstone floors. A doorcase-stair is located on the back wall and window-seats are present.
