Description
Sockety Kennels, formerly known as Sockety Farm, is a former farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the 18th century and is marked with the date RRE 1826. The building features coursed dressed stone walls and an asbestos slate roof with gable ends. The right-hand gable has a stone gable coping, while there is a brick stack at the ridge center and a stone stack with a projecting cornice at the right-hand gable. The structure is two storeys high and has four windows, which are two and three-light wooden casements with stone voussoirs and wooden cills. The front door is located well to the right of center and features bead moulding at the arris of the dressed stone jambs, with a square head. The door, dating from the 19th century, has six flush panels. Inside, there is a mid-chamfered ceiling beam with tongued stops and an inglenook fireplace that includes a sawn beam and a bread oven.
