Description

The Ruins is a folly, likely built in the early 19th century, constructed from ashlar-faced stone in a Gothic style. It is designed to resemble the chancel and part of a transept of a church. The elevation facing the Abbey features a central raised gable with a battlemented parapet, flanked by octagonal turrets that have small pilasters at the corners and conical caps. There is a large pointed arched opening in the center, with no evidence of tracery, and similar openings can be found in the other walls. The structure is currently in rather poor repair.
