Description
This is a folly built in the late 18th century, reconstructed from medieval masonry. It features squared coursed limestone and limestone ashlar. The structure has an L-shaped plan formed by an archway and attached walls. Notably, there is an early 14th-century triple-chamfered two-centred arch with semi-quatrefoil responds, along with the base of a window opening above it. The attached wall displays remains of a double chamfered arch with a similar respond. Various carved heads are integrated into the wall, and the folly originally included additional arcades. The materials used for its construction came from the Church of St. Peter in Lilford, which was demolished around 1778.
