Description
Forest Thatch is a house that dates from the mid-18th century, with later additions from the mid-19th century and the 20th century. It is built of regularly coursed limestone and features a thatched and pantile roof. The original layout was a three-unit plan, and the house is single storey with an attic. The front has a three-window arrangement of casement windows beneath wooden lintels, with attic windows located under eyebrow dormers. To the right, there is a two-window range of leaded casements, while the left side features 19th-century casements with glazing bars. The doorway, which is now a window, is positioned to the left of the centre. The gable ends have ashlar parapets, and there are brick and ashlar stacks at the ridge and ends. The rear elevation is similar to the front but includes some 20th-century windows. A mid-19th-century cottage at the rear is now connected to the main house by a 20th-century extension. Inside, the room to the right retains the remains of an open fireplace with a bressumer, and some panelled window reveals can also be seen.
