Description
Adber Cottage and Adber House form an attached range that dates from the early 18th century, with some changes made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features dressed stone walls and a roof made of patent tiles with stone gable copings. There are stone and brick chimney stacks on the gables of the house and on the central gable of the cottage. The structure is two storeys high, with the house having four windows that include 3- and 4-light wood casements with glazing bars, iron casements with lead lights, and wood cills and lintels, some of which have been renewed in the 20th century. The front door of the house is centrally located, flush-panelled, and has two top lights, dating from the 19th century. The cottage, which faces the roadside, has two windows, while the last unit, previously a workshop, has no windows. The entrance to the cottage is at the rear, accessed through a stable-type door in an outshut from the 20th century. Inside the house, there are deep-chamfered ceiling beams with stepped stops, flagstone flooring, and a large open fireplace with a chamfered wood lintel that includes two bread ovens.
