Description
This group of three monuments, made of Portland stone, is located approximately 10 meters north of the north door of the Church of All Saints in Wyke Regis. The monuments date from the 17th and 18th centuries.
Two of the headstones are positioned immediately west of the churchyard path, while the third is about 3.5 meters to the east, on the opposite side of the path. The first stone, dedicated to John Stoddard who died in 1782, features a large shaped head above a sunk panel with a bas-relief depicting a putto holding a reversed torch and leaning on a large urn, flanked by drop drapes. The second stone, located approximately 1 meter north of the first, commemorates a person named Wood, although the date is not legible; it is likely from the early 18th century. This stone has a high scrolled head, with one scroll broken off on the right, and a high-relief panel adorned with cherub heads and intertwined wings.
The third stone, situated on the opposite side of the path, is a plain rectangular memorial that is notably thick and has a chamfered back edge. The inscription is partially legible, revealing the name Towill, but it lacks a date; it is probably a 17th-century memorial.
