Description
Wyke Cottage is a house located in a row of buildings, dating from the late 18th century and altered in the early 19th century. It features Flemish bond brickwork and a slate mansard roof. The building has two storeys, an attic, and a basement. The front includes two six-pane sash windows and flat-roofed dormers above a large central bow oriel window with eight, twelve, and eight-pane sashes. On the ground floor, there is a sixteen-pane sash window and a small six-pane window, both set into brick voussoirs, along with a brick arch over a six-panel door that has a radial fanlight. A small Portland stone plinth and a painted cornice band with saw-tooth brick dentils are present, with the cornice carried in wood across the top of the oriel. The building has a stack on the left gable, while the right gable is partly exposed due to the setting-back of the adjacent No. 4, and is rendered. The rear of the cottage features a central dormer, a deep gabled wing, and a part parallel range. The interior has not been inspected.
