Description

Barn House and No 35 The Street, now located on Church Walk, are two dwellings that were originally a single house, likely dating to the 17th century. The construction utilises rubble walls with gable-ended roofs covered in a combination of slate and thatch. Brick stacks are situated at the ends of the building. The plan is in an L shape, and the house has one-and-a-half storeys with an irregular arrangement of windows. The windows are casements, with 2 and 3 lights, some featuring horizontal glazing bars and others with full glazing bars. Internal features, as documented by the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (RCHM), include deep chamfered beams with run-out stops, and open fireplaces that have been blocked. The property is recorded in the RCHM volume IV, page 50, entry number 5.
