Description

The Old Mitre is a former inn located on Lower Acreman Street, dating from 1625. This two-storey house, which has been identified as the Mitre Inn, features a four-window front that faces Westbury. The building has a slate roof with a hip and retains its original sash windows with intact glazing bars. The entrance includes a six-panelled door topped by a four-light fanlight. An iron bracket and bar extend from the main front of the house.

The Old Mitre is part of a group with Nos 2 and 3 Digby Estate, Nos 166 and 167, and an outbuilding to the south occupied by P J Stainer. It also forms a group with the listed buildings on the west side of Westbury, which includes A and W Prout, Harley House, Penarth House, and Pinehaven.
