Description
The gateway to Minterne House, located approximately 90 meters north-west of Minterne House, dates from the early 20th century and is possibly designed by L Stokes, who also designed Minterne House. The gateway features main and subsidiary piers connected by a semi-circular wall made of squared, coursed rubble and ashlar. The subsidiary piers have a plinth and cornice topped with ball finials. The central piers include shell-headed niches, a cornice, and squat pinnacles. The connecting walls display an arcade with a moulded top rail supported by round arches with keystones. The iron gates are designed with twisted, spiked uprights and a ramped upper rail.
