Description

ST 60 SE MINTERNE MAGNA MINTERNE MAGNA VILLAGE (EAST SIDE) 8/170 Gateway to Minterne House, approximately 90 m north-west of Minterne House GV II

Gateway, early C20. Possibly by L Stokes who designed Minterne House. Main and subsidary piers linked by semi-circular wall. squared, coursed rubble and ashlar. Subsidary piers have plinth and cornice with ball finials. Central piers have shell-headed niches, cornice and squat pinnacles. Connecting walls have arcade with moulded top rail supported on round arches with keystones. Iron gates with twisted, spiked uprights and ramped upper rail.
