Description
Lower Silkhay Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century. The building features rubble-stone walls and a thatched roof, which has stone gable-coping on the right side and a catslide extension over the front door. There are three brick chimney stacks located at the center ridge, on the right gable, and at the right front eaves. The left end of the farmhouse projects forward, constructed in brick on a rubble-stone base. The main windows, described as being on the rear elevation, include four 3-light wooden casements with lead lights, and there are two flush panel doors positioned to the left and right of the central entrance, which is a plank door framed in wood. The rear elevation is rendered and the farmhouse stands two storeys tall.
