Description
79 and 80 St Thomas Street are a pair of houses that also include shops, built in the early 19th century. The buildings are rendered and feature a slate mansard roof. They rise to three storeys and have four flat-roofed dormers with four-pane sash windows. Below the dormers, there are two two-storey bow oriel windows with six-over-nine-over-six pane sash windows on the second floor and four-over-six-over-four pane sash windows on the first floor, with the lower sashes lacking bars. These windows are adorned with dentil cornices. The 19th-century shop fronts have pilasters and consoles, but the glazing has been updated in the late 20th century. A moulded cornice, blocking course, and coped parapet are present, along with a deep ridge stack on the left side. The plain right gable has a coped upstand and is visible due to the adjacent building being set back. The interior has not been inspected.
