Longthornes

Longthornes is a country house built around 1850. It features plastered walls with raised vermiculated quoins and a tiled roof that has bargeboards on the gables, a slate eaves course, and a simple moulded cornice. The house has plastered stacks on the ridge topped with ornamental clay pots, some of which are missing. It has an H-shaped plan and is designed in the Georgian style, standing two storeys tall.

The entrance front includes a later flat-roofed single-storey extension at the center, with projecting wings on either end. The ground floor of the extension has a ledged oak door set in a 4-centred arched frame, accompanied by a fanlight. There are four sash windows with a central glazing bar on this floor. The first floor features three sash windows with glazing bars and moulded surrounds. The left gable has one similar sash window on the ground floor, while the same gable also has two sash windows with glazing bars and a rectangular bay window with similar sashes. Other elevations display sash windows with glazing bars in moulded surrounds on both floors, with some windows containing crown glass.

Inside, there is a cut string stair with shaped spandrils and a wreathed handrail. Longthornes is a late example of the Georgian style.
