Description

Shepherds Close is a pair of cottages, now converted into a single house, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The exterior features colourwashed Flemish-bond brickwork and a half-hipped thatched roof, supported by four brick buttresses. The building is one and a half storeys high and has a two-window range, with 2-light 20th-century casements that include leaded lights. A central ribbed plank door is set in a thatched porch supported by rustic timber columns.

Inside, there are two open fireplaces and some original doors still present. The building is uniquely located at the bottom of an old chalk pit.
