Description

Blaenblodau Hall is a small country house built in the late Georgian style, featuring two storeys, a basement, and an attic, with three bays. The structure is made of rubble stone and has flat stone arches over the windows. It includes shallow end pilasters on the main elevations and a slate roof with projecting eaves. The exterior is partly plastered and has some areas renewed with plasterboard, along with roughcast brick end stacks.

The front elevation showcases a central entrance within a full-height bow, featuring a panel door topped by a radial-glazed overlight. The upper storey of the central bay is hidden behind a later pebble-dashed gabled projection, which is open at the lower storey to create a porch. The windows are 16-pane hornless sashes, and the central gable has a single casement window beneath a semi-circular overlight. In front of the left-hand bay, there are iron railings that guard a lower passage leading to the basement, which has replaced windows. The gable ends each have two windows with 12-pane hornless sashes positioned on the outer sides. The left gable end has two inserted basement windows and a later kitchen projection on the right. The rear of the house features two bays with full-height bow windows that also have 12-pane sashes.

Inside, the central hall boasts a simple late-Georgian staircase. Both the ground and first floors include a long transverse room at the rear, divided in the middle by sliding partitions. The drawing room ceiling retains simple Adam-style details. While most chimney pieces have been removed, six-panelled doors, panelled shutters, and moulded cornices are preserved in the hall and principal rooms.
