Description
This is a multi-purpose farm building constructed from rubble stone with a corrugated metal roof. It features three phases of construction, marked by full-height vertical joints. The central section, which is part of the cow house, has openings with keyed flat arches. The barn and stable located to the southeast have similar openings, along with a continuous row of pigeon holes and a ledge beneath the eaves.
The cow house includes a total of six doorways, three of which have been converted into metal-framed windows, while the remaining doors are boarded, except for the left-hand door which is boarded up. Of the five loft openings, four are fitted with boarded shutters beneath the eaves, while the left-hand opening is at a lower level and remains open. At the right end, there is a boarded loft door. The main entrance to the stable is framed by a projecting surround with a pediment and is flanked by wood-framed windows. To the left of this entrance is a former doorway that has been converted into a metal-framed window. On the right end, there is a boarded door that leads directly to the loft stairs. The loft features a single opening beneath the eaves, which disrupts the line of pigeon holes.
The barn, which is positioned at right angles to the main range, has a boarded winnowing door on the left, followed by a blocked doorway and two ventilation strips. The rear of the barn has two similar ventilation strips and replaced double doors leading to the wagon bay. The rear of the stable and cow house has inserted metal-framed windows along with original boarded doors.
Inside, the cow house and stable are equipped with mid-20th century cattle stalls. The barn retains line shafting that was used for a threshing machine powered by a former waterwheel.
