Description
This is a three-storey, three-window Georgian house, dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone with larger quoins, topped by a slate roof with projecting eaves and end stacks built of coursed stone. The front features a central fielded panel door, above which is a round-headed overlight with a Y-tracery design. The windows are arranged under flat arches with keystones; the lower two storeys have 12-pane hornless sash windows, although the middle left-hand window is currently boarded over. The upper storey has smaller 6-pane sash windows, with the one to the right also boarded over. A 12-pane hornless sash window is set into the left-hand gable end, lower right, in the front pile.
The rear of the house mirrors the front with 12-pane and 6-pane hornless sash windows, similar to those on the front. Stair windows are also present: a 12-pane sash window illuminates the lower landing, while a former sash window on the upper landing has been altered to create a doorway. This doorway is accessed via a ramp at the rear of the house.
The right-hand gable end has a blocked lower-storey window on the front. Attached to the right gable end is a two-storey, integral kitchen wing built of rubble stone with a roughcast front and a slate roof. A large, tall gable stack is prominent. The lower storey of the kitchen wing has a replaced door on the left, a 12-pane hornless sash window on the right (which was noted to be in poor condition), and a later 16-pane horned sash window in the upper storey, all set under flat arches with keystones. An external fireplace with an elliptical arch and a cobbled hearth is situated on the outer side of the stack. A boarded-up opening is located to the left of the stack, and a roofless lean-to is situated behind the kitchen wing. The property was not accessible at the time of inspection.
