Description

Heronbridge is a small country house built around 1830. The exterior is now covered in pebbledash and features hipped grey slate roofs. The house is two storeys tall with a recessed entrance bay, a one-window wing on both the right and left sides, and a slightly recessed one-window outer wing on the right. It has a painted plinth and a probably Edwardian verandah with five timber round-arched six-over-six pane lights at the front of the entrance bay. Each wing next to the verandah has a tripartite three-over-nine-over-three pane sash window with a frieze and cornice, and there is a nine-pane sash window far to the right.

On the first floor, there is a nine-pane sash window in the entrance bay, one in the left wing, and two in the right wings, all of which are recessed. The house has painted brick chimneys. The left side features a canted two-storey bay window with a French casement in each face, and a formerly one-window bay to the left with its openings blocked. The first floor of this bay window has a Gothick window with twelve square panes below attractive cusped tracery on each face.

At the rear, there is a two-storey canted bay window close to the left side, with windows similar to those in the previously described bay. Near the centre of the rear face, there is a six-light casement and a Gothick casement on the ground floor, along with two Gothick casements on the first floor.

Inside, the house features a good open-well open-string staircase with panelled newels, unusual brackets, turned balusters, and a swept rail. Other interior details include five-panel doors, panelled embrasures, wall panelling, and ceiling cornices.
