Description
This is a range of three suburban houses, originally two, dating from around 1820, with later 20th-century extensions. The houses are built of brown brick laid in an English garden wall bond, with a hipped slate roof laid in diminishing courses. Four brick ridge stacks are present. The front elevation has five bays, with the outer bays slightly set back. The original houses each had four bays, with doorways located in the third bay from the end. These doorways feature shallow pointed arches, moulded surrounds, and panelled doors. The ground floor has six windows, each with three two-pane lights beneath a label mould, now fitted with 20th-century metal casements. This pattern is repeated on the first floor, with blind two-light openings positioned above the doorways. The end bay of number 23 has a rear lean-to and a 20th-century single-storey extension to one side, creating a separate house at number 25a. A former coach house with a loft is located at the rear of number 23. Numbers 23, 25 and 25a form a group with numbers 15 and 17, and numbers 19 and 21 Eaton Road.
