Description

Nos. 15 and 17 Eaton Road are a pair of suburban houses built around 1820. They are constructed from brown brick in English garden wall bond and feature hipped roofs covered with graded grey slate.

The houses are two storeys tall, each with four windows. No. 15 has an added one-storey canted bay window on the left, which contains four lights: two panes below the transom and one pane above. It also has a pair of two-pane French windows, a Tudor-arched door with two flush panels, two simple panels, and two arched panes beneath an arched hoodmould, along with another pair of two-pane French windows. No. 17 features a pair of metal French windows with eight over eight panes, a Tudor-arched door similar to No. 15 but set in a trellis porch that includes benches on each side and an arched roof. It has a casement window with three two-pane lights and another pair of eight over eight pane French windows. The first floor of No. 15 has four six-pane sash windows, while No. 17 has a three-light casement to the left of the entrance, a blank opening above the entrance, and two three-light casements to the right, all with two panes per light. Both houses have two ridge chimneys and a lateral chimney, and all window openings are adorned with stone labels. It is likely that the French windows were added in place of original casements. The roofs have wide boxed eaves.

The interior of No. 15 includes a staircase with an octagonal newel and turned balusters, two fireplaces that are likely original, and ceiling cornices.

These houses are part of a group with Nos. 19 and 21, and 23 and 25, which share a similar form and design.
