Description

Meadowhouse Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse with 20th-century additions. It is constructed of English bond orange brick with a Welsh slate roof and a central brick chimney. The building has a T-shaped plan and a symmetrical north front of three bays. The facade is two storeys high, and includes a blind attic. A raised bond pattern is visible on the first and second floors. The end bays contain replaced three-light wooden casements set within segmental brick heads. A similar brick head frames a four-panelled door, which is approached by three steps and sheltered by a lean-to hood. A blocked window is located above the doorway. Brick banding continues around the remaining portion of the front, incorporating an added porch and garage. The interior features a cross passage between the main parts of the house, and contains a turned column oak dogleg staircase with square newels. Original features include four-board doors and heavy ceiling beams.
