Description

The buildings at 29, 29A, and 31 Cheap Street date to the 19th century. They are three storeys high with an attic, and originally had four window bays. The roof is tiled, with decorative coping to the gable ends, accompanied by brick flanking stacks. Two gabled dormers are present. The front facade is constructed of ashlar stone, finished with a stone eaves cornice and end pilasters. The windows are set in reveals and retain some original glazing bars, each framed by a moulded stone architrave. A modern shop front has been introduced to number 29. Number 31 has a window on the right-hand side, while numbers 29A and 31 both feature four-panelled doors from the 19th century, each with a rectangular fanlight above. Numbers 29 to 53 (odd) and 53A are designated as a group.
