Description
City Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the mid-17th century, with later alterations. It is set back from and at right angles to the street, featuring walls made of flint, chalk-block, and Ham stone. The roof is thatched, hipped at the south end and gabled at the north end, with brick stacks located on the ridge towards both ends, likely serving the central room and the kitchen. The building has a three-unit plan, with an additional service or dairy area at the north end.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a total of six windows, which include two- and three-light iron casements with lead lights. There are two doors: one at the left end with brick jambs and a plank-and-muntin door from the 20th century, and another to the right of centre, possibly leading to a cross-passage, featuring stone jambs, a plank-and-muntin door, and a wood lintel, also from the 20th century. The north gable end has a two-light ovolo-moulded stone mullion window with a separate label above, as well as a one-light stone-framed window in the gable.
Attached to the south end is a rubble-stone stable from the 19th century, which has a slate roof and fixed windows with glazing bars. The stable features a central plank door and a loft door above it. Inside the farmhouse, there are chamfered ceiling beams.
