Description
Lower Synderford Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse featuring rubble walls with Hamstone gable copings. The building has 20th-century Roman tile roofs and brick stacks, and is laid out in an L-plan over two storeys. The facade includes a range of three windows and two windows in the re-entrant, with casements, some of which have iron frames, a semi-circular tension-bar, and spiral stops from the 17th century. Some windows also have leaded panes. The door, located in the angle, has two leaves and is made of planks with vertical mouldings and a 4-centred head, dating from the 20th century. Inside, there is a ceiling beam with deep chamfers that are filleted and stopped. The fireplace lintel, which is similar in style, has been incorporated into a window bay. There is also a bread oven with an iron door inscribed 'Wightman and Dening Chard' and plank doors throughout the interior.
