Description
The boundary wall from Mill House to the opposite side of No. 82 is a Grade II listed structure located in Weymouth, specifically along Church Street in Upwey. This wall, which encloses the Wey stream, is situated on the west side of the street and is constructed of rubble. It likely dates from the early to mid-19th century, though it may include some earlier elements.
The wall starts at a straight joint across from No. 82 and extends northward to a doorway in the walling of Mill House. It begins at approximately 2 meters in height, decreasing to about 1.8 meters opposite No. 90 for a length of around 23 meters, before rising again to about 2 meters. Further along, the wall increases in height to approximately 2.75 meters and exhibits two distinct building phases: the lower section is made of rubble, while the upper section is constructed from coursed thin-bedded stone.
This wall is significant for its visual contribution to the streetscape, standing in front of various cottages and linking the enclosure of Mill House to the north with the entrance gates of Upwey House to the south.
